ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills organized one Field Day on Vanaraja Poultry in Dengnakpara village on 12th December 2024 to show the participants the impact of new technologies that are already adopted by farmers. The KVK implemented backyard Vanaraja poultry farming under Front Line Demonstration (FLD) in September 2023 at ten farmers’ field in Dengnakpara village. Today’s programme aimed to highlight the production potentiality of Vanaraja chicken variety in backyard farming. Dr. Sagarika Borah (STO) led the event providing valuable insights into the variety’s benefits as a vital source of both eggs and meat and an income-generating activity for the farmers. A total of twenty farmers and farm women from three villages participated in the programme. The farmers provided positive feedback about Vanaraja chicken at their farms citing its more egg production and body weight gain in comparison to the local chicken. During the event, participants shared their experiences among themselves regarding the rearing of Vanaraja birds right from day one to laying stage. Mineral mixtures, vitamins, and important medicines were also distributed to the participants.
